Designed and constructed over some 18 months, this heavyweight external signage system is cast from solid concrete and sits upon a plinth which is lit at night. The sculptural aspects of the design lend itself to play and physical interaction by the general public as well as serving its primary purpose of signing to the North Melbourne Town Hall Artshouse. It has since gone on to become quite a landmark in the area, being used for numerous photo-shoots and even in real estate ads promoting the rapidly gentrifying area. Being there at installation and kerning (see below) was a delight. The joy of carefully spacing was not shared by the signage installers, probably because each letter weighs over a ton.
