Developed as part of the 2011 Dance Massive event, Music for Imagined Dances embraces the idea of music randomisation. The design project began with the initial visual branding, incorporating ceiling tiles whose perforations appear as random. This design was then integrated into the very space itself by the use of a wall punched through with thousands of dots. These perforations allowed the light and colour of the room to change, triggered by physical movement in the room. As they were played, the 600 musical pieces were steadily built up as a network of squares mounted on the entry wall.
