Orbit Oblique
Orbit Oblique
is a typographic tribute to the animals lost in space research 1949-1990. It is also the first type sampler produced by Letterbox, and one of very few produced by Australian type designers. In particular it shows off Bisque typeface.

During the period 1949-1990 the space race between USA and Russia involved dozens of animals being sent up into space to test the conditions for mankind. These unwilling participants included not just primates and dogs but also cats, rats, frogs, worms, spiders, fish and even fruit flies. Many were never seen again. This show pays homage to their noble sacrifice through the use of typography. This hand-bound book features a handsome letterpress printed cover produced by Idlewild Press.
