Death of a Typographer

design Letterbox | collaborator and writer Nick Gadd

This book project was unique for a number of reasons. Not only was it a murder-mystery about typography (that’s unusual in itself) but the fact that the main character was loosely based on the typographic life of Letterbox founder Stephen Banham made this a project with a unusual level of personal investment.

The result is graphic simplicity – highlighting the visceral potential of even the most minuscule of typographic forms. The cover is designed to work at an iconic level making it highly legible in both digital and retail environments.
