Following the success of the typographic conference TypeShed11 (Feb 2009) comes another typographic journey to the ‘land of the long white cloud’. Letterbox founder, Stephen Banham spoke to an audience of over 100 type-enthusiasts at Massey University, Wellington. The even is part of the creative art and design conference, Blow. Also on the night was the ever-entertaining and sharp typo-illustrator / graphic artist Sarah Maxey. The event also includes a type walk of Wellington (Nov 10) taking on the typographic sights of this most beautiful city. | More information
With the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall comes an unarchiving of some very early photographs of Letterbox founder, Stephen Banham from the time and place in question. He was then living in Berlin in an apartment overlooking Potsdamer Platz when the wall opened up amidst massive crowds, confused police, water cannons, fireworks and even a performance by David Haselhoff on a cherry-picker wearing a jacket that flashed with lights. I’m sure people who were there that night will understand that momentous occasion. The wall too.
