Qwerty 4

writing and design Stephen Banham | publisher Letterbox

Produced just after the Australian recession of the early 1990s, this fourth issue of Qwerty viewed this period economic hardship through a typographic lens. This included a survey of business signage being wrenched off buildings and other skeletal remains of spent commerce. The text is set in our very first custom typeface, entitled Bankrupt, which was based on the glue outlines left over after a sign is removed. This issue features a tipped-in four colour letterpress section printed in Sydney.
