World of the Book

design Letterbox | curators Anna Welsh and Eve Sainsbury | producer Nickk Hertzog

A major exhibition of the State Library of Victoria’s extraordinary collections.

Encompassing everything from Egyptology to Frankenstein, Alice in Wonderland to ancient scripts, World of the Book required a strong and systematic typographic identity system. The design is based on 45 page-like elements which work as a navigational system throughout the five parts of the exhibition. The silhouette of the design powerfully echoes the circular dome galleries in which the exhibition is held.

A navigation system introduced the five curatorial sections, each a division of the 45 elements. It also references the circular nature of the Dome Galleries.
